Once Upon a Time, a fluffy bunny with abandonment issues and a duckie with Scrappy-Doo delusions of grandeur formed an unlikely friendship. 

 

Our forestial chums bonded in the face of the impending winter frost, knowing that their fraternal affection would survive as the chilly winds of November lifted the wings of the mallard southward.

 

That is, until the duck got stepped on by a fox.

 

Yes, stepped on.  By a fox.  Not bitten.  Stepped on.

 

Defying the elements, not to mention natural selection, our enduring pintail lives to quack another day, and his cotton-tailed comrade has a very pleasant cardiac arrest.
